My Story
My BlogAs Salamu Alaykum “Peace be unto you”
I’m Jerome I was born in South Africa. When I was 5 years old my parents decided to give my sister and me the best future possible. They left their home, family and friends to raise us in Australia. I have always felt very lucky to live in Australia and I am extremely grateful to my parents. In my mid-20s I converted to Islam, Alhamdulillah “praise be to God” and I have never looked back. Islam has given me a purpose in life as to why I am here, which brings me peace.
The pandemic changed the world including me. One of the changes for me was trying to have more balance in my life. For a very long time, I haven’t put myself first. I missed out on doing what was best for me, especially when it came to my mind, body, Faith and overall wellness. I feel blessed that I am finding balance now to focus on myself. I believe that when we are the best version of ourselves the world can be a better place.
For many years now, I have had the dream and passion for a wholesome life, educating myself and trying to apply what I have learnt. But my biggest struggle was staying consistent. I have dyslexia and from this, I am a perfectionist and a huge overthinker which affects my day-to-day life. A lot of the time, I feel like I am on a Ferris wheel where I would come back to the same problems I had in the past. It makes me feel stuck, alone and misunderstood.
I am a very simple girl living in a wild world that is only getting wilder and more complicated by the day. Most of the time I feel I am running in the opposite direction to everyone else on this planet. I long for a simple wholesome life. Where I have time to breathe, and be present in every moment of my day.
It can be a lonely road when trying to heal yourself holistically. I had plenty of resources out there to help me, but we are all created differently. Therefore, trying to find out what works is challenging. The secret is I will never give up because I have faith and know there are others like me who might benefit from what I have to share. Because it is important that we all help each other in this world.
In saying this I am here to share my healing journey and what has and will change my life for the better in the hopes that this will help others too Inshallah “If God wills it”
